Females

At Weldon Angus, we cull our females just as strongly for traits that are not easily quantifiable such as disposition and mothering capabilities as we do for quantifiable traits such as ultrasound data and birth, weaning, and yearling data on her calves.

We take more of a natural approach to developing our heifers.  They are not creep fed before weaning.  In the winter when they are off pasture, they are fed long hay (grass and alfalfa mixture).  This conservative feed program results in more realistic ultrasound data, and also better prepares them to become fertile, productive females.
